“The nameless souls of the black metal band KrvL (pronounced “Kravaal”) are said to roam Belgium’s Kravaal forest. Formed in 2020 KrvL self-released its 2022 debut Kravaal. It’s sonic vision, it turns out, was a decent dose of black metal with post and doom leanings, and Kravaal caught the attention of start-up Italian label These Hands Melt, who signed the mysterious Belgians in 2024. Steeled now to release its sophomore effort Donkere Paden, KrvL seeks to enter the light from, as the blurb reads, ‘the darkness they find themselves in.'” Cookiepuss and Fudgie approved!

Serotonin – Motiv Review
Sometimes in life you’re told that you’re getting one thing and you end up getting another. As a n00b in a difficult world, the thing you have to ask yourself is whether what you got was worth the ritual humiliation of n00bdom. This is the question posed by “Serotonin, a Dutch black metal band hailing from Nijmegen in The Netherlands. As one of the ten happiest countries on earth, the band bearing the moniker of the human body’s ‘happy’ chemical was both funny and intriguing. And before long, I was exploring previous releases.” Will Motiv be the upper this n00b so desperately craves?
Phenocryst – Cremation Pyre Review
“Sporting a sufficiently oozy band logo, a now revamped line-up, and a unique concept mainly dealing with themes of volcanology, Phenocryst further distances themselves from the maddening meat ‘n’ taters crowd by incorporating psychedelic elements into their sound. My cursory research revealed that phenocryst is a volcanological term representing a large crystal formation often found in magmatic rocks. The more I researched, the more I bought into the concept, agreeing that volcanoes rock.” The music is lava.
